Historical Memory Race, Nea Smyrni

The Historical Memory Games of Nea Smyrni is a sporting event of high standards that aims to highlight the Historical Memory of the Lost Homelands. The event takes place in the context of the festive events of the Ionian Festivals and includes the 10, 5, and 2.5 km races.

The Cultural and Sports Organization of the Municipality of Nea Smyrni in collaboration with the Panionios GSS, the 
Association of Athletic Friends of the Nea Smyrni Grove (SAFANS), the Youth Department of Nea Smyrni of the Greek 
Red Cross (EES) and under the auspices of AAS , of the Women's Athletic Association "Kallipateira" and the 
Association of Greek Olympians (SEO) organizes the Historical Memory Games of Nea Smyrni.

The Historical Memory Games are dedicated to the Lost Homelands and take place in the context of the festive events 
of the Ionian Holidays. 

The aim of the event is to highlight the Historical Memory of the Lost Homelands.

Within the framework of the Organization, the award of the "runner of the spirit" has been created, honoring annually 
distinguished personalities of letters and arts, while from 2018 the Organizing Committee decided to donate part of the 
income to social responsibility and sensitivity bodies, starting in 2018 with Actionaid, on the occasion of the 20th 
anniversary of its founding.
