Announcement of the 16th Messina Marathon

The Municipality of Messina and the Region of Peloponnese in collaboration with the Association of Athletes of Messina (S.AM.), the Association of Health Runners of Messinia (SDYM), the Messinian General Assembly and the auspices of EA. Σ. Σ.Ε.Γ.Α.Σ. Peloponnese Region and EOSLMA-Y announce the 15th Messina Marathon Road, the Marathon Relay (2×21.1km), as well as the parallel roads 10 km and 3 km, outside the stadium under the name: MARATHON ROAD 2

The matches will be held according to the following conditions:

DATE: Sunday 03-04-2022 PLACE OF CONDUCT: Messina – Prefecture of Messinia.

Start of Marathon and Dynamic Walking: Dynamic Walking, 06:00, Marathon, 07:00 am in the Central Square of Messina Finish time limit is seven (7) hours for the marathon road and eight (8) hours for the dynamic walking 42.195km. After this time limit the athletes continue the effort at their own risk.

Finish: Central square of Messina Route: 42,195 km to the Messinian plain (the map of the route HERE.) Start 10 km: Time 09.30 am in the Central Square of Messina.

RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE: Runners who train regularly as well as amateur athletes can participate in the races. Marathon runners must be born in 2003 or earlier (≥19 years old). For veteran athletes (over 30 years old) the classes will be every 10 years. 10 km road racers must be born in 2010 or earlier (≥12 years old) Elementary, high school and adult children (> 15 years old) are eligible to participate in the 3Km road. Medical examination All competitors who have a SEGAS card must have their cards certified by a doctor as required by law. For the athletes or students who do not have a sports card together with the declaration of participation they must submit a declaration of N 1599, where they will sign the text of the responsible declaration. In any case, all competitors participate at their own risk. The organizers have no responsibility for what happens, during the race, related to HEALTH issues and is due to lack of preventive medical examination. For the participation in the races will be applied the updated protocols of the GGA regarding the avoidance of transmission of the variants of covid-19. Upon receipt of the race material, valid vaccination or disease certificates will be requested, while the percentage of those who are not vaccinated will be asked for a negative rapid test or PCR certificate.

DISTINCTIONS – PRIZES – AWARDS: Marathon winners are the first three (3) athletes, men / women, of the General Classification. -The first winners will be awarded cups per category: 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ -The first, second and third winners of general and categories will also be awarded medals. -All the athletes who will finish, will be given the commemorative medal of the race and a technical (dry fit) t-shirt. -All the participating athletes will be able to print a commemorative participation diploma from the electronic link of the results.

Marathon cash prizes

The following cash prizes will also be awarded to the winners of the marathon: 1st / 1st 300 euros 2nd / 2nd 200 euros 3rd / 3rd 100 euros 500 euros will also be given to the male or female runner who will finish with a new route record (men and women route record 2h: 31min: 04s, Hamodrakas Ioannis, 2007 and 3h: 06min: 31s, Karimali Smaragda, 2005 respectively). In case the track records for each gender are achieved by more than 1 runner, the above amount will be divided equally. Pre- or post-race marathon runner meal Upon receipt of the race material, the participants in the marathon will also receive a coupon (10 euros) that can be used in the restaurants of Messina before or after the race. The winners of 10 km are the first six (6) athletes, men / women, of the General Classification.
