1st Mountain race Thriptis Lassithi

– Start of registrations

With awe and enthusiasm we announce the opening of registrations and the conduct of another unique mountain running race in eastern Crete.

Date of the event: Sunday, February 20, 2022! Perhaps there are two serious reasons why the idea prevailed in the attempt to make this fight. The first is the protest during the development of wind farms in the area of Thripti and Mount Papoura which will have serious effects on the ecosystem in the area and must be avoided in any way and Or the second is the emergence of an incredibly beautiful route and a path (section E4) of infinite beauty which runs up and out the unique ravine Ha and embraces the perimeter on the south side of Mount Papoura. The view is magnificent with the two seas of Crete Libyan and Cretan Sea overlooking at a glance. It is located right in the center of the isthmus of the narrowest part of Crete, between Pahia Ammos and Ierapetra. The start will be from the traditional village of Monastiraki in the direction of the forest of Thripti. The route of the race has landmarks of very rare beauty that are difficult to find. The imposing gorge of Ha next to the tiny but picturesque settlement of Monastiraki give the first mountain touch and prepare the participant for how interesting and full of surprises the route of the race will be. Landmarks such as the forest of Thripti with the unique rugged pine, the chapel of Agia Anna, the spring of Sufina, the back and top of the ravine of Ha, Thripti, the forest in Kaminakia with the chapel of Ag. Dimitriou are some of the places that will compensate.
