8th Volos Half Marathon / 29th I Love Volos Run 2024
The routes are the same as the 2023 race as certified by WA / AIMS. The first 5 kilometers of the Volos Half Marathon will take place in addition to the beach of Volos, and on Dimitriados and Iasonos streets, before the athletes continue their course towards Pefkakia and Alykes. The changes made since the 2023 race are very important, as they highlight to runners and visitors other beautiful parts of Volos besides the seaside, as they do with the best places in every city abroad and in Greece, where a major road race is held . Equally positive is the news for the runners who will run the 5km I Love Volos Run parallel race, as it will be held entirely on the beach of Volos and on Dimitriados and Iasonos streets. It is something unprecedented even for Volio athletes who until 2023 had never run on the streets that are full of cars, and which will be closed for an hour and a half during the games. The certified measurement was made on March 10, 2022 in accordance with the current World Athletics (formerly IAAF) and AIMS regulations that also apply to SEGAS, with the only approved methodology. The measurement was carried out by the A’WA/AIMS international measurer Giorgos Dousis. The official certificate was issued by WA/AIMS after the meter’s relevant report was drawn up, and handed over to the event. It will be valid for five years (until 31.12.2026), as long as the measured routes remain the same, otherwise, in case of changes, they will have to be re-measured. Therefore, the performances of the runners will be official, internationally recognized, and every record achieved in the Volos Half Marathon races will be recognized, while each athlete will be able to claim to reach the qualification limit for the Panhellenic Championships, or a good time that will ranks in the block that belongs to him in important races such as the Authentic Athens Marathon.
